The Vilna Ghetto

The Shavli Ghetto
Jews of Vilna (Vilnius) were put into two ghettos: the “Big Ghetto” with 30,000 Jews and the “Little Ghetto” with 10,000. Before the Jews were put into the Vilna Ghetto, the Lithuanians slaughtered about 35,000 Vilna Jews (in Ponar)... By August 15, Jews from Kovna (Kaunas) were put into the ghetto in Slabodka. Kovna Jews were also divided into a “Big Ghetto” with 28,000 and a “Little Ghetto” where for a very short time 2000 Jews lived. In Shavli the Jews were put into a ghetto in the “Kavkaz” (Caucasus) neighborhood and a ghetto in the “Trako” neighborhood, altogether 5500 Jews...
